Waterproofing Contractors in Mumbai

If you are searching for waterproofing experts in Mumbai you are at the right place. Wet2Dry solution Pvt Ltd began providing waterproofing and water tightening services all over Mumbai back in 2010 since then we have served 1000s of happy clients. The aim behind launching waterproofing services in Mumbai was to serve home buyers and renters facing wall leakage, ceiling dampness, bathroom leakage, ceiling leakage, etc in their home. The common type of waterproofing work that we noticed in Mumbai was chipping the wet area and re-plastering the wall. This is not a permanent solution because this won't stop the root that is causing the leakage. So in the future, the leakage will still appear and the owner has to redo the stone age technique of chipping and replastering.

Different types of waterproofing

Internal waterproofing

Internal waterproofing refers to the process of waterproofing the interior areas of the house like walls, floors, and sump pumps to keep it dry and free from water. Before doing the Internal waterproofing process, one has to inspect the most susceptible areas for seepage from the house's exterior. An internal drainage system can be installed, ensuring the water flowing towards the wall and re-routing outside the home. In basement Waterproofing, if the new or the existing drainage system is not working, the use of sump pumps is the most appropriate way to waterproof the home. For effective treatment, trained professionals are recruited for this work.

Terrace Waterproofing

Waterproofing the flat terraces is a little tricky because the surfaces are flat, and the water gets accumulated above the surface, creating opportunities for leakage. While construction, a slope of 1 in 100 is recommended for terraces. However, the best way to waterproof the deck is to use a waterproofing membrane. This is a continuous thin layer of waterproofing material that offers no water path to enter the structure. A filling layer is on the surface of the membrane. Necessary to give a slope to the terrace. Later, a tile, stone, or any other material is used to finish the surface to withstand harsh weather conditions.

Kitchen Waterproofing

The kitchen is an area that is more prone to leaks, waterlogging, and bacterial growth due to active plumbing. So it needs advanced waterproofing solutions. The crucial areas that need to be waterproofed are sink, Tile joints, splashbacks, kitchen cabinets, Drainage pipes, sanitary fittings, and kitchen flooring. Concrete waterproofing is essential in the kitchen. The other waterproofing procedure includes installing a sump, effectively coating and priming, waterproof grouting and sealants, sealing the wood cabinets using linseed or Tung oil, and under-tile waterproofing. This protects the primary facility from structural, decorative, and health-related damages.

Wall dampness treatment

Dampness on the walls, especially after the rain, worsens the plaster, masonry, stones, tiles, timber work, and even wallpapers. The first step is to define the source causes of dampness – increasing dampness, penetrating water, and condensation. Accordingly, the dampness treatments are carried out. Good quality waterproof chemicals and DPC concrete or cementitious coating with plaster covering are adopted for rising dampness. For penetrating water usually caused by rain, leaking drain pipes, or fittings, the protective waterproof layer and the applications are used over the damp area. In case of condensation or dampness in the air, proper ventilation, insulation, and water repellent chemicals are used to treat the wall dampness.

Balcony Waterproofing

Waterproofing the balcony is necessary to prevent water ingression damages due to rain, snow, or floods. While construction, the terraces are made using concrete surfaces with a waterproofing layer to cover and guard the area. The waterproofing of the balcony ensures completion of penetrating works before waterproofing, choosing a suitable sealant or membrane material, application of additional sealants to the penetrating surface, covering the balcony area with the waterproofing chemical, and adopting a proper drainage plan to overcome the water stagnation.

Ceiling Waterproofing

Damp Ceiling drywall can crack, bow, swell, or gets discolored, which affects the visual appearance of the living space. If it is continuously exposed to water damages, it is more vulnerable even to collapse. To overcome this, Ceiling waterproofing is done by unrolling the waterproofing membrane over the ceiling joists, stapling the membrane on its sides, and applying the waterproofing tape. Finally, two coats of polyurethane sealant are used for complete sealing of drywall.

Common Waterproofing Methods

Grouting

Grouting involves injecting the waterproofing materials into the cracks, voids, or cavities in concrete or masonry structures to repair the cracks, prevent the water flow, and strengthen the system from such damages. Like a mix of cement, sand, and water or chemicals to fill the gaps, the waterproofing material is called grout. This method is carried out by drilling the surface on the cracked area, fixing the aluminum pipe or nozzle to fill the voids, and pressure injecting the waterproofing material may be a slurry or other chemicals in the cracks. This helps to prevent water damage and strengthen the structure.

Cementitious Waterproofing

Cementitious coating is a two-component modified polymer coating that provides high adhesion to concrete and steel. This prevents water, water vapor, and moisture from penetrating the concrete surfaces. It is used in the structures like tunnels, railways and subways, docks, bridges, water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants, Marine cargo, and parking areas. Though the different surfaces require different application methods, the basic steps are surface preparation, crack filling, application of the primary coating, then the secondary coating, and the final finish.

Bituminous Waterproofing

Bituminous waterproofing is done using a mixed substance of Bitumen (asphalt or cold tar) that is highly sticky, viscous, and waterproof. This material is used to construct roof in the form of roofing felt or roll roofing products, ground walls, terraces, clean rooms, parking lots and industrial surfaces. A bituminous waterproofing membrane is laid over the frame using blowtorches to protect against water leakage on the roof.

Polyurethane Waterproofing

Polyurethane waterproofing is made using a polyol base and isocyanide reactor to create a liquid coating for waterproofing applications. It is easy to install, gives long-term durability, and comparatively needs less skill and supervision. Also, they are UV resistant and weather resistant that can be used for post-construction applications as well. The application process involves cleaning the work area, fixing the cracks or voids, applying two primer coats of polyurethane to serve better adhesion, and finally, the finished jacket.

P U injection

P U grouting injection is one of the specialized techniques to inject the expanding polyurethane into the cracks, gaps, voids, concrete joints, or behind concrete walls to stop water damages. The application process involves pre-drilling a hole on the ceiling's underside, and then PU grout will be injected using low or high-pressure. The grout then fills the void or the spaces caused by the water damage, which is effective for active leakages.

Liquid Waterproofing membrane

Liquid waterproofing membrane is waterproofing a roof by applying a specialized liquid roof coating. This liquid-based coating cures to form a rubber-like waterproofing membrane which is elastomeric and provides additional tensile strength to the surface. This liquid membrane is cost-effective and can be applied over most roofing surfaces like concrete, asphalt, Bitumen, felt, etc.; it is applied to the affected areas like paint. Upon drying, an elastic membrane is formed with excellent waterproofing capability.

Bituminous / Asphalt Coating Waterproofing Method

This waterproofing method uses the bituminous coating to form a flexible protective layer over the concrete foundations. Bituminous paints are available in the durable, robust, and waterproof market and resistant to harsh UV light. It creates an effective barrier against water and is used to waterproof terraces, roofs, walls, clean rooms, and civil surfaces.
